The Design Degree Show (DDS) is the flagship annual event of the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay, celebrating the creative culmination of its graduating students' academic journey. It serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing final- year projects across diverse disciplines such as Communication Design, Animation, Interaction Design, Mobility and Vehicle Design, Industrial Design, and more. The event brings together students, faculty, industry professionals, and design enthusiasts to engage with thought-provoking exhibits, research- driven innovations, and multimedia storytelling. DDS reflects the ethos of IDC — blending human-centred design with cutting-edge problem-solving — and fosters valuable industry-academia interactions while offering a glimpse into the future of design in India.

Typography Day (TypoDay) is an annual international conference organised by the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay (and later hosted by design institutions across India and abroad), dedicated to exploring and celebrating the art, science, and practice of typography. It brings together typographers, type designers, educators, students, and researchers from across the globe to discuss various aspects of typography in the context of visual communication, type design, multilingual scripts, and emerging digital interfaces. The importance of Typography Day lies in its role as a unique platform that fosters dialogue on the cultural, linguistic, and technological dimensions of typography—particularly in the multilingual and multiscript context of India. By hosting workshops, paper presentations, and exhibitions, TypoDay significantly contributes to advancing typographic education, encouraging innovation, and preserving the richness of regional scripts and letterforms. The seventeenth edition of the annual international conference Typography Day 2025 was held from March 6 to 8, 2025, at the IDC School of Design. Organised with support from the India Design Association (InDeAs), Design in India, and Aksharaya, this year's theme was "Typography and Storytelling."

Futuring Design Education (FDE) is a significant initiative co-organised by the Department of Design at IIT Delhi and the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay. The conference, held on February 10–11, 2024, brought together design educators, researchers, practitioners, and students to engage in dialogues on the evolving landscape of design education in India. With India's rich craft heritage and the growing emphasis on initiatives like "Make in India" and "Design in India", the conference addressed the multifaceted challenges and opportunities in the field. Key themes included the transformation of design knowledge, the role of learning spaces, and the development of ecosystems for design learning. The event featured plenary sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions, fostering collaborative discussions on pedagogical models, technological advancements, and cultural contexts in design education. The proceedings of FDE 2024 have been compiled in a volume published by Springer, serving as a valuable resource for those interested in the future of design education.

'Nature Embedded: A Design Technology Experience' is an exhibition consisting of fifteen different media that range from the conventional calligraphy, expressive photography, tessellated murals and product installations to the more unconventional and emerging media that leverage ethnography, infographics, motion graphics and interactivity(ies) to convey life's myriad messages. The exhibition themed on the human's every day and everyman relationship with nature hopes to bring to attention the fact that cultures such as ours had once consciously built their lives around nature's ways by following nature's rhythms, tapping into nature's resources, and emulating nature's designs. In time, this process of following nature around had come to become tacit, ubiquitous and subconscious. In the process, humans had also found it imperative to protect and preserve nature from the deleterious effects of unbridled greed that humans can be capable of. In offering this tribute to Nature, the exhibition finds it opportune to leverage Design and Technology as expressive tools with which to convey the idea of our intersections with nature. And yet, remaining artistic as a celebration of art as a mirror of society. Finally, the exhibition also attempts to showcase the fairly systematic process that lies behind the use of a design cycle, deployed here from start to finish. And in sharing this with our audience, we hope to make the process of design and technology a more transparent affair than it usually is.

The D'source Challenge is an international design competition organised by the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay in collaboration with the Design Innovation Centre at BHU. Students, recent graduates, and young designers from all around the world are invited to create innovative solutions addressing real-world issues aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each edition of the challenge focuses on specific themes such as information design, interaction design, and open design, encouraging participants to tackle problems ranging from public service accessibility to environmental sustainability. Visualisations, interactive prototypes, and thorough design processes are common submissions. To encourage open design and broad effect, a selection of entries are displayed under Creative Commons licences. The World Design Organisation, Cumulus, and the Ministry of Education (previously MHRD) are among the organisations supporting the effort, which aims to create a global network of socially conscious designers.

Designing for Children is an interdisciplinary initiative by the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay, which aims to use design to create experiences that are meaningful, captivating, and developmentally appropriate for kids. Research, workshops, classes, and worldwide conferences that gather educators, designers, researchers, and business experts are all part of this continuous endeavour. The initiative explores how design can contribute to children's learning, play, interaction, and overall development by addressing their unique cognitive, emotional, and physical needs. It emphasises inclusive design, storytelling, play-based learning, participatory design methodologies, and the function of emerging technology.

"In a Planet of Our Own" is an international design initiative by the IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay, focusing on sustainability through the lens of design. Notably, the 2015 edition, which took place from December 3 to 5, focused on the theme "A Vision of Sustainability with Focus on Water" and was a part of the Cumulus Mumbai conference. In order to explore sustainable practices and the role of design in tackling environmental concerns, the event included a wide range of events, such as an international design conference, student workshops, exhibitions, and public installations. Distinguished speakers such as Anshu Gupta, Arturo Vittori, and Nina Sabnani shared insights on topics ranging from sustainable water management to the integration of traditional craft in contemporary design. The event was further enhanced by artistic displays that represented natural components and a worldwide cartoon contest, which created a cooperative forum for designers, educators, and students to discuss urgent sustainability issues.

Design in India is a comprehensive website dedicated to the exploration and promotion of design across India. It encompasses a wide array of design disciplines, including animation, architecture, automobile design, fashion-textile design, interaction design, product-industrial design, and more. The platform offers resources such as articles, case studies, and links related to various design fields. Additionally, it provides information on design institutions, associations, and events, aiming to foster a vibrant design community in the country.
