Salam is an animated short film project that explores the true meaning of Jihad by challenging the common misconception that it solely represents holy war or terrorism. Through the story of a mother and her son, the film presents Jihad as a concept of personal struggle and moral striving based on Islamic teachings. The project is supported by extensive research into Islamic literature, the Quran, Hadith, history, films, and other reference materials to understand the term's origins, interpretations, and misuse. It examines the distinction between the concepts of Greater Jihad (inner spiritual and moral struggle) and Lesser Jihad (armed conflict under specific circumstances), while highlighting that the Quran emphasizes righteousness and does not justify violence or terrorism in the name of religion. The project also documents the development of the film's narrative, characters, and visual style to communicate these ideas through animation.
