Industrial design is a creative activity that aims to determine the formal qualities of industrially produced objects. IDC started as an industrial design centre in 1969. In 2010, M.Des in Mobility and Vehicle Design started at IDC. Some of the students' projects from that time (2009–2013) were: Innovative Indoor Lighting Products by Nagsen P. Nadurgekar; Re-designing Automatic Ticket Vending Machine; Robotic Kit for Children by Ujjwal Likhar; Culture Inspired Designs by Kulkarni Sagar Shamraj; Promoting Human Powered Mobility by Gujarathi Rahul Raju etc. Expo CD, Expo PDi, and Expo Signage, Design Degree Show, TypoDay, Design Experience Seminar, Monsoon Course on HCI 2010, Creating Learning Material for Children, Workshop on Communication Design Principles are some of the major exhibitions, workshops, and events held by IDC.
