The project seeks to design workbooks and exposure material for teaching Design based on Classical Indian Knowledge Systems for CBSE Class XII students. It is being done as part of the CBSE Design Thinking (DT) Curriculum under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The choice of the topic arose from the vast and rich untapped potential of Indian Knowledge Systems. Design education in India has greatly been inspired from the West, leading to students generally being unaware of or disassociated from traditional Indian sources of knowledge. In this project I explore the principles of arts and crafts of ancient India and extract content that can have modern relevance and applications in the field of Design, and present it to students in an interesting pedagogical manner. I use the capability and accessibility of the modern web to design exposure content as well as interactive exercises that would seek to pique student interest in these classical systems of knowledge.
