Women put so much effort into the "dating" process, including emotional preparation, even though we often end up as victims of various crimes. We fear uploading our pictures on social media and live in constant fear of certain aspects of society that others don't worry about.
Initially, I wanted to highlight what women go through when agreeing to meet someone. What are their thoughts? How do they prepare? Every action is driven by reason or fear—like carrying a purse, not just for convenience but to carry self-defense tools like pepper spray.
We try to learn as much as we can about the person we're meeting, but there’s always the risk that they may not be who they say they are, and that can be dangerous. The aim of this project is to show that, even though we know we might end up in a bad situation where we’ve done nothing wrong, we continue to fight through it.
By the end of the project, I realized it’s more complex than I first thought, and nothing is purely black and white. While exploring the grey areas, I made sure not to imply that all men are bad or that I'm against men in general.
In conclusion, the film highlights the difference between reality and the societal guidelines imposed on women. In my opinion, these guidelines are not the solution, as the aftermath of such experiences often leaves women traumatized for life.
